Publish with us
We welcome book proposals from scholars whose work advances our understanding of society. Here is how the process works.
The process
Every book we publish moves through the same considered path — because good editing takes time.
Send us an outline, a sample chapter, and a note on why the book matters and who it is for.
Promising proposals are sent to independent scholars for peer review and considered by our editors.
Accepted manuscripts are edited closely — for argument, structure and clarity — in dialogue with the author.
We design, produce and bring your book to readers, libraries and classrooms.
We publish original scholarship — monographs, textbooks, edited collections and readers — across the social sciences and allied humanities. Above all we look for a clear argument, careful research, and a subject that speaks beyond a narrow specialism.
We are especially glad to hear from scholars working on the societies of South Asia, and from those whose work bridges disciplines. First-time authors are as welcome as established ones.
A strong proposal usually includes:
• A working title and a one-paragraph description
• A table of contents with brief chapter summaries
• One or two sample chapters
• A note on the readership and comparable books
• A short CV or note on the author
Send proposals to socialsciencepress@gmail.com. We aim to acknowledge every submission.
Write to our editorial team with your proposal, or send us a note through the contact page.
